NFL Mock Draft - Buffalo Bills Edition

While attending college at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, my roommates and I turned NFL Draft day into an full weekend event. We would wake up early (before noon), go the local grocery store load up on hamburgers and cheddar wurst, and plant ourselves on the couch for a full day of NFL draft coverage (this was before the first round of the NFL draft moved to Thursday night). To up the ante, we held an NFL Mock Draft competition between the roommates in the house to see who could predict the results of the 1st round correctly. If you have never done this before, I highly recommend you give it a try this year just to see how difficult it really is. Once you get a pick incorrect, it can have a snowball effect on the rest of your 1st round predictions.

Now onto what you all care about…who the Buffalo Bills are going to draft at pick #27 on April 27th. I feel certain that the team is confident in their quarterback position. Beyond that, there are some areas to address….receiver, offensive line, linebacker, secondary, …running back!?…

  1. Jalin Hyatt (WR: Tennessee Vols) - Gabe Davis has proven that he isn’t consistent enough to be the #2 guy in Buffalo. You can’t stop the Bengals and Chiefs so you are going to have to outscore them. Jalin Hyatt was the best deep threat in college football last year. He is a guy that even Josh Allen can’t overthrow.

  2. Calijah Kancey (DL: Pittsburgh) - The best way to stop Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow is to get to them before they can throw the ball. While undersized for the position, Kancey brings athleticism and the ability to get to the quarterback. Current DT, Ed Oliver, is scheduled to hit free agency in 2024 meaning this move could pay off big in the future.

  3. Deonte Banks (CB: Maryland) - I’m not sure he falls this far but if he does, Buffalo would be smart to consider drafting him. Banks is a tremendous athlete at 6’0” and 197 pounds with 4.35 speed. Buffalo’s secondary would benefit from adding youth and athleticism.

And there you have it. I expect one of those three to go to Buffalo at pick #27 this year in the NFL draft. Texas running back Bijan Robinson won’t be there at 27….keep dreaming Buffalo.
